On Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 September 2018 more than 4,750 architects, interior architects and other designers visited ARCHITECT@WORK in Rotterdam. Architectenweb put together an impressive seminar programme focused on the central theme of the biennial edition: Architecture and Light.
The visitors to ARCHITECT@WORK drew a lot of inspiration from the seminars, but they were also very excited to meet over 280 suppliers from the construction sector, presenting their novelties. The good thing about the ARCHITECT@WORK concept is that every exhibitor gets an equal amount of space, meaning that a start-up offering something entirely new gets as much attention as an innovating world player. ARCHITECT@WORK featured a lot of new products in numerous domains. In energy generation and circular construction for example, it was clear that suppliers have made significant progress. Avancis presented sleekly designed PV panels; Monier came with roof tiles with integrated PV panels; De Ploeg introduced a new, wear-resistant curtain fabric from recycled plastic; Bruynzeel presented floors in wood from forests sustainably managed by Staatsbosbeheer; and Govaerts Recycling/Govaplast brought along slate cladding made of recycled plastics – a further development of the slate that Bureau SLA and Overtreders W developed for the temporary People’s Pavillion at the Dutch Design Week.
The next edition of ARCHITECT@WORK will be taking place in Ahoy Rotterdam on 16 and 17 September 2020.
